This progress report summarizes trends in poverty and country policies for reducing poverty and it reviews the actions taken by the Bank to support countries in implementing the WDB 1990 strategy. The report concludes that developing countries have made substantial progress in reducing poverty over the past three decades, although there has recently been some loss of momentum.
