The book maintains that South Africa's hostile attitudes towards its neighbours was intended to realise a number of objectives among which were the neutralization of the ability of its neighbours to provide an effective springboard for the activities of liberation movements hostile to South Africa; the perpetuation of the weaknesses and divisions that characterise most of the states in the region, and the creation over time of the states in the region; and the creation over time of a favourable climate such as the constellation of Southern African States.
