An inquiry into the medical, social and economic effects of the consumption of alcohol in Great Britain was planned by a group of persons. Two committees were appointed. The present volume is the report of the social and economic committee. The conclusions of the medical committee were published in a volume entitled, A review of the effects of alcohol on man. cf.
