Summary: Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture (PVA) aims to bring the most recent scholarship on vernacular architecture to the academic and professional community. PVA appeared in book format from 1982 to 2005 as a series of refereed essays drawn from the best papers at the annual meetings. The University of Tennessee Press was the most recent publisher, producing volumes 5-10 under various titles, but always subtitled Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture. In 2003 the Vernacular Architecture Forum (VAF) converted the series to an annual journal in order in order to bring out the material in a more timely manner and to open it up to articles that did not begin as papers given at the VAF conference. Volumes 11-13 have been published by the organization as Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture: The Journal of the Vernacular Architecture Forum. In 2007 University of Minnesota Press will take over publication and the journal will be issued twice a year beginning in 2009.
