Infrared therapy has been used in physiotherapy practice for decades. The two forms used are luminous and non-luminous. It is also claimed to be one of the oldest forms of superficial heating used by man. The aim of the study was to determine the level of knowledge among patients receiving infra red heat at the University Teaching Hospital department of physiotherapy of the benfits of its use. The study was also aimed at establishing whether the level of participant's education had any influence ontheir understanding of the use of infrared.
