Paliative caren is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problem; physical, psychological and spiritual. Palliative care is developing into a nursing speciality because of the unique knowledge and skills necessary to alleviate the patient's and family's suffering and enhance the quality of life. A study was conducted in two hospitals - University Teaching Hospital and Kafue District Hospital. The purpos of the study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses towards patients requiring palliative care.
