Intra uterine contraceptive device (IUCD): is a flexible device made of copper. Its presence causes an inflammatory reaction in the endometrial cavity which causes interference with sperm function. However only 1 % of women in sub-Saharan Africa use this as a prefered method of contraception. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of a brief counseling intervention on the uptake of the IUCD among women in Lusaka district, Zambia.
