Summary: Option B+ is the new World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended option approach of lifelong anti-retro viral therapy (ART) for prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) for all HIV infected pregnant women, regardless of their CD4 count. There are various benefits of option B+ strategy, the most obvious being that women on life long therapy will be healthier with less risk of contracting opportunistic infections and leading to lower overall mortality. The main purpose of this study is to determine factors influencing adherence to option B+ among women enrolled on option B+ in Ndola Urban Clinics.
