Every year, millions of people sustain lower limb injuries and have to rely on a pair crutches to enable them to move. Literature highlights that crutches are swathed with problems and are prone to misuse as they mitigate the use of both arms in uncomfortable and cumbersome way. Crutches are not only used by paients with injuries but also in individuals with mobility problems. The objective of the study was to determine cruthch users level of knowledge on safety precautions among patients in C21, G21 and physiotherapy outpatient department in UTH and in addition the level of knowledge on the complications that arise from misuse of cructhes.
