Summary: Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged work load. Among nurses, the incidence of occupational stress-related burnout is high and factors such as age, years of service, hierachy, inadequate staff, difficult or demanding patients, male gender and inadequate clinical supervision have been reported to be associated with burnout. The objective of the study was to determine the proportion of nurses that has experienced burnout in paediatrics ward at uth and to further identify demographic characteristics that can lead to the occurrence of burnout.
