Osteomyelitis is an acute or chronic inflammatory process of the bone and its structures secondary to infection with pyogenic organisms. The condition may arise from trauma, bacteremia, surgery, or orthopedic implants that disrupt the integrity of the bone. The main objective was to determine the prevalence of pin tract infections leading to osteomyelitis for lower limb fractures in the G02 and G22 trauma wards at the UTH between july 2012 to jul 2013.
