The study was conducted at kabamba rural health centre, serenje district in central province, Zambia. In serenje, diarrhoea (non bloody) is the third leadin cause of clinic visits for children under five years of age, after pneumonia and malaria. This necessitated the undertaking of a study to assess factors that contribute to the prevalence of diarrhoea (non-bloody).
