This study examines the activities of policy-based finance in post-war Japan from 1947 to the mid - 1960s. It focuses primarily on the activities of Japan Development Bank and emphasizes institutional aspects of policy-based finance, the funding resources, the industrial policy making process, and priority sectors and their charactaristics. It also presents case studies of how policy-based finance worked in tandem to assist foster, and enhance industrial production.
