This thesis examines, among other things, the use of money in peasant farming; the effect of the nature of the source of cash income on the generation of cash savings and the constraints which limit the extent to which peasants' cash savings can be invested in farming, and the possibility of reducing the effect of these constraints by introducing co-operative savings and credit societies.
