Summary: The main objective of this study was to examine the impact of post apartheid South Africa on regionalism in the subcontinent. South Africa is shown in the study to be a dominant economy in the region with growing trade and investment links. Despite this growth in trade, the study concludes that free trade agreements to incorporate South Africa into existing regional groupings, are not in the best interest of the region.
