Consumption and utilization of traditional food crops in Mbala and Mpika district of Northern Province.

Among the objectives of the survey were to identify the various traditional crops grown in the study areas and to study the factors related to their production, storage and utilisation at the household level. The study revealed that agricutural production in the survey areas was dominated by five main crops: maize, millet, cassava, beans and groundnuts. The main food eaten was nshima made from flour of millet and cassava and maize with various relishes ranging from meat to beans.
