Summary: The study was aimed at identifying the reasons why there is high prevalence of bilharzia infections among school going children in Mbala. The study revealed that most residents have low knowledge of the levels of schistomiasis. The study further revealed that the respondents recreational and occupational practices were poor, this could be attributed to the poor socio economic conditions of most people in mbala. Finidings indicate that authorities do not recognize bilaharzia as a major problem in the health sector that they meay need to control.
